Meet Our International Graduate Student

Anna C M

She found us through a web search for schools that use The Slingerland Approach for language instruction. I got an email requesting that we host her graduate studies and allow her to shadow our students during their language arts time. It took us about 4 months to settle on her program and then it took off.

She arrived in the USA in late August and lightened our doors on Monday, August 26. It was an instant connection.

A few FUN facts:

Name: Anna Chiara Mastropasqua

Age: 24

Graduate School:  University of Padova from the Department of Philosophy, Sociology, Education and Applied Psychology.

Her hobby is indoor cycling, which is cycling on a special bike inside. Here we call it "spinning." She loves to ski. Her favorite place to ski is at  Dolomiti. We call it the "Alps."

Her favorite quiet time activity is reading. Her lifelong favorite book is "The Little Prince"  by Anthoine de Saint-Exupery. Anna lost her father when she was 2 years old and this book makes her feel like she is connected to him.

She was in Belgium when she heard about a different way of learning from a colleague that was from Georgia, US. She was determined to learn more about educating children with dyslexia. From her Orton Gillingham research, she learned about Slingerland and from there she found us. And the rest, as they say, is history.

This is her first time in the USA. California is an amazing experience and she is already plotting for a way to come back. So far, the most memorable sights that she has visited here are: the nightlife and lights of San Francisco at night. The view of the Golden Gate Bridge from Battery Spenser left her speechless. Tomorrow she is going to explore Alcatraz. She's a little nervous because of all the stories she has heard, but I know she'll be fine.  She also visited our treasured Redwoods in Big Sur and felt their magic right away.

We only have her for another week and she is going to be missed. She has quickly become a part of our family. If you are reading this and are part of our Stellar Family, please make sure to wish her all the best in all her future endeavors.
