My Weekly Friday Message 2/1/19

Dear Stellar Families,

Facilities update:

Our housing situation may change next year. Currently, the board is in negotiations with Cedars Church to extend our lease. If an agreement can't be reached, we will need to relocate. It is 100% the intention of the board to stay within a 3 - 5 mile radius of this location. Additionally, we have hired a real estate specialist; he specializes in locating property for schools. Members of the board and I have already looked at several properties. We are growing and need more space than we are allotted here; we are looking with growth as our primary search lens.

More change is afoot: (see what I did there!?!?!)

Fred Burns, our PE Coach, has accepted a full time job elsewhere and will not be returning to Stellar after this week. We wish him well on his journey. I find myself, once again, searching for a part-time PE Coach. I have several resumes; I just wanted to let all of you know. As always, if you have a personal recommendation, they will receive priority consideration.

Final count for our walk-a-thon: Laps = 914; Dollar raised = $ 2,237.50 !!!

Don't forget - There is a Learning Differently fair tomorrow at Dublin High School from 9:30 - 2:00. I will be there representing Stellar Academy, along with Kim Scott and Maria Islas. If you have a window in your calendar, come on by to say hi and see what is going on in our educational community.

From Our Box Top Coordinator: We are going to be submitting our box tops again on March 1.  Please get your box tops to us by no later than Tuesday, February 26 for this go around. After this, we only have one more round for this school year.! We are looking to earn more with each submission.

Next week:

  • Thursday is visitor's Day 8:45 - 10:00
  • Friday we have a whole school assembly from Wildmind 12:30  - 1:30

After that:

We are having our monthly buddy event on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 2:00 pm. As it is Valentine's Day, we are going to host a Heart Healthy event. Thursday morning, please send with your Stellar student, a piece of fruit that has been washed and sliced/diced/peeled and made ready for a fruit salad. Send it in a disposable zip lock bag or reusable container with your name and it will be returned.  We are going to put everyone's contribution into a HUGE bowl and share a friendship salad, in the style of Stone Soup. You are welcome to attend, please bring your contribution to our salad too. There is a flyer attached.

Still keep in mind our Pets in Need fundraiser. Flyer is attached. Please post at your place of work! Most people will support animals in need.

Warmest regards,
